Motorist deceased after crashing down embankment in Maple Ridge Monday: RCMP

MAPLE RIDGE – Mounties in Maple Ridge say one motorist is deceased after a motorist drove over a barrier on Lougheed Highway Monday afternoon and crashed down an embankment.

In a statement from police, the Ridge Meadows RCMP media relations unit says police were dispatched for a single motor vehicle incident in the 27400 block of Lougheed Highway Monday at about 12:30 p.m.

Responding officers arriving on scene learned that a vehicle drove over a barrier and tumbled down an embankment. The driver of the vehicle was treated by emergency responders on scene. Despite the life-saving efforts by first responders, the driver of the vehicle was unfortunately pronounced deceased. 

Police say the investigation is still ongoing, however, initial indication is that this is medical-related incident.
