Environment Canada issues alert for motorists travelling on the Coquihalla, Crowsnest

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY/CROWSNEST HIGHWAY — Environment Canada has issued an alert for motorists who are travelling tonight on the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt and the Crowsnest Highway between Hope and Princeton.

According to a statement, moderate to heavy snow is expected on both Highway 3 via Allison Pass and on the Coquihalla Highway.

The alert says a frontal system crossing Southern British Columbia will bring snow to the Coquihalla Highway and Allison Pass tonight. Precipitation is expected to change from rain to snow this evening. Snowfall accumulations are expected to range from 10 cm to 20 cm overnight.

Snowfall will ease by Friday morning.
