Man dies after being found unresponsive outside ostrich protest site: RCMP

EDGEWOOD, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA — Mounties with the Naksup, B.C. detachment say they are investigating after an unresponsive man died on the ground in the protest camp at the Universal Ostrich Farm in Edgewood, British Columbia.

According to a statement from police, Nakusp RCMP were called to a sudden death after members of the Police Liaison Team discovered an unresponsive man Monday morning, Nov. 3. Members of the Police Laision Team discovered the unresponsive man shortly after 7 a.m.

Police say immediate life-saving measures were undertaken by officers on site. Police-initiated CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) continued until B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics arrived and took conduct of the man’s care. Despite significant efforts by both police and paramedics, the man could not be resuscitated.

The man has been identified; however, police continue attempts to locate and notify the man’s next of kin.
