Chilliwack Search and Rescue activated after fisher swept 75m down the Vedder River
CHILLIWACK – Chilliwack Search and Rescue volunteers were activated last week after an angler’s attempt to cross the Vedder River in Chilliwack didn’t go as planned.
According to her weekly recap for Sept. 28-Oct. 4, Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says a fisher needed help this past week after slipping while attempting to cross the Vedder River near Chilliwack Lake Road.
She estimates the individual was swept approximately 75 metres downstream before finding refuge on a rock.
She says the individual was unable to safely return to shore, and subsequently contacted police for help.
