BURNABY – Police in Burnaby say charges have been laid against a 27-year-old Abbotsford man less than two years after a two-vehicle crash resulted in the death of an elderly couple.

Burnaby RCMP spokesperson Corporal Mike Kalanj says frontline RCMP officers were called to a two-vehicle collision at Boundary Road and Forest Street on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024.

Cpl. Kalanj says it was reported that a vehicle travelling northbound on Boundary Road had t-boned another vehicle that was travelling westbound on Forest Street.

The collision tragically claimed the life of a Burnaby couple, a 67-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man, Cpl. Kalanj said.

Burnaby RCMP’s CCIT (Criminal Collision Investigation Team) assumed conduct of the investigation, police said.

On September 21, 2026, the British Columbia Prosecution Service approved two counts of dangerous driving causing death against 27-year-old Adam Jones-Veneziano of Abbotsford.

“Fatal collision investigations take a toll on everyone involved. The extraordinary dedication and resilience of our Criminal Collision Investigation Team is unrivalled,” said Inspector Amanda Harnett, Burnaby RCMP’s Community Programs Officer.  “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims as this investigation moves to the courts.”
