IHIT deployed to Langley after shooting leaves 1 dead Monday night: RCMP

LANGLEY – Mounties in Langley say one person has died after a shooting in Langley Monday night.

Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom says police responded responded to a report of shots being fired in the 6000 block of 200 Street, Langley, at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Sgt. Sharoom says first responders quickly arrived in the area and located one individual in medical distress. 

“Despite life saving efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” Sgt. Sharoom said. “The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in.”

Less than an hour later, at approximately 10:03 p.m., Langley RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a vehicle fire near 232 Street and 75 Avenue in Langley.

Sgt. Sharoom says investigators are working to determine any links to the shooting.

Sgt. Sharoom says officers will remain in the area canvassing for video surveillance and speaking with any potential witnesses to obtain further information.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and any further information will be provided by Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
