SD42 trustee named NDP candidate in what could be a close race in Maple Ridge East

MAPLE RIDGE – The B.C. NDP announced Monday that a trustee on the SD42 (Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows School District) Board of Education will run in what could be a tight race in the Maple Ridge East riding in next month’s provincial election.

In a statement, the NDP said SD42 trustee Hudson Campbell will be its candidate in the Maple Ridge East riding, one that Lawrence Mok won by only 97 points over former MLA Bob D’Eith, who is running instead for Maple Ridge City Council.

Campbell was elected as a school trustee, but the party says his community involvement began long before that. He was a founding member of UPlan with the City of Maple Ridge, served as president of the Maple Ridge Climate Hub, and was Director of Protocol for the 2024 BC Summer Games. He grew up attending local schools and later chaired the District Student Advisory Council.

“Hudson knows government choices directly shape the lives of British Columbians, from public education and healthcare to creating good jobs here in B.C.,” the NDP said. “He is running to be a strong voice for his neighbours in Maple Ridge East, and to build a sustainable community where every senior, young person, and family can afford to live, work and build a good life.”
