HARRISON – An Agassiz RCMP spokesperson has now confirmed that a missing man believed to have gone camping at East Harrison last weekend has been located deceased.

RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says police located Ryan Tran sometime on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

“I can confirm that Agassiz RCMP located Ryan Tran in the Harrison area yesterday,” Cpl. Kiener said. “This missing person investigation originated with the Surrey Police with us assisting them. Out of respect for the family, I won’t be sharing any further information.”

Tran left to go camping on Friday morning, Sept. 11, and was supposed to return by Sunday evening.

A family member said Surrey Police Service, RCMP and SAR had been notified and were searching Harrison.

On Wednesday evening, a family member posted the following: “This is Ryan’s brother Winston. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to find my brother. I regret to inform everyone that the police have found him and he is deceased.”

Police in Surrey had not yet issued a news release about Tran’s disappearance. Cpl. Kiener explained that not all missing persons result in a media release to the public, as most are located before it is deemed necessary.
