Man behind bars for over 28 years dies in custody at Fraser Valley prison

MISSION – Federal correctional staff in the Fraser Valley have confirmed the death of a 58-year-old inmate who had been serving a life sentence.
In a statement, Correctional Service Canada says 58-year-old Steven Laroche died last Friday, September 11, while in custody at Mission Institution.
Laroche had been serving a life sentence that began on Dec. 19, 1997.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC policy mandates that the coroner be notified.
