An angle grinder and alleged stolen property were found in their possession, Cpl. Mohr said.  Investigators are recommending multiple charges against the pair, including break and enter, theft, and mischief.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing, Cpl. Mohr said.

Graham Rodger posted about the break and enter incident online last week, saying he manages a non-profit farm that helps the community. He estimates the farm has had $200,000 in theft and damage just this year alone.

“We have managed to humbly get by with nothing. It’s not been a great year, all our tools, tractor, everything stolen!” Rodger said in a social media post. “Well today, I caught 2 f-en dirtbags stealing. First guy I caught challenged me with an angle grinder and then followed me back…which I used to block him in. My wife and boss called the RCMP; when he found out the police were called he became very calm.”

He said a grey Dodge pickup truck allegedly used to enter the property was towed. He expressed frustration over the 32-year-old male suspect being released by police.

“The most unbelievable thing that the RCMP released them! He threatened me with an angle grinder, stole a very expensive native art piece that was bolted to a wall! It was in their truck!” Rodger wrote in his social media post. “He was grinding away at our electrical box, trespassed, can’t remember all the charges but they actually released them on the spot! This is our justice system! No wonder he keeps stealing from people!! All we want is peace at our farm. Every week we have had an issue. All we want is to help support the community!”
