Air quality warning remains in effect from Chilliwack to Hope due to wildfires

CHILLIWACK — Parts of the Fraser Valley remain at increased risk of poor air quality as wildfire smoke continues to crawl across the province.

The Metro Vancouver Regional District has issued an orange warning for the eastern part of the region, between Chilliwack, Agassiz, and Hope, due to elevated levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from the fires in the South Cariboo and the Boston Bar complex.

Residents are asked to check in on people at higher risk, improve indoor air quality and seek medical help for severe symptoms.

Seniors, pregnant people, babies and toddlers, those with existing illness, and people who work outdoors are more likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke.
