Online appeal launched to support family of 13-year-old paddleboarder who sadly died at Cultus Lake

CHILLIWACK – A GoFundMe has now been launched to support the family of the 13-year-old girl who tragically drowned while paddleboarding at Cultus Lake this past weekend.

On Monday, August 10, shortly before 2 p.m., the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team located the body of the missing 13-year-old youth who entered the waters of Cultus Lake on Saturday, August 8, according to a statement from police. The investigation has since been turned over to the BC Coroner Service.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Cpl. Carmen Kiener of the Chilliwack RCMP. “This is a heartbreaking outcome, and we are deeply sorry for their loss.”

Organizer Rebecca Bosir has launched the online appeal to support Ashley and Dwayne as they and others mourn the passing of Izzy.

The title of the GoFundMe is, “Izzy, Forever 13.”

The GoFundMe from Bosir thanks everyone for all their love and support during the incredibly difficult time.

“Many people have been reaching out after this unimaginable loss asking how they can donate to help the family,” Bosir wrote. “We have decided to create this Go Fund Me for those of you who have reached out expressing that you’d like to financially help. We love and appreciate everyone for their continued support as we navigate through this time.”
