Man fatally hit by car after running away from Surrey police Thursday night

SURREY — B.C.’s police watchdog is now investigating after a man who ran away from police was fatally struck in Surrey on Thursday night, July 30.
Shortly after 11 p.m., Surrey Police officers pulled over a westbound vehicle in the 15600 block of 56 Avenue, or “Highway 10”, and spoke to the driver.
The driver, an adult man, then got out of the vehicle and ran on foot.
He was hit by a vehicle heading eastbound on 56 Avenue, and despite emergency efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead on scene.
