AGASSIZ — A man who was clocked committing multiple driving offences has had his sports car impounded – again – following a multi-jurisdictional police investigation.

On May 11, Agassiz RCMP fined a black Toyota GR Supra for dangerous driving on Pioneer Avenue and seized the vehicle.

Shortly after the coupe was released, on June 10, the vehicle was reported for excessive speeding through a construction zone in Agassiz and leaving the area before police could stop it.

Three days later, police were paged out to a report of possible gunshots in the area of Chief Hali Road along Highway 7, where “numerous” cars and motorcycles drove away at high speeds. The same black, two-door coupe was then spotted in the middle of the road.

A traffic officer with Langley RCMP then recognized the vehicle through several social media videos of it street-racing around the Lower Mainland.

Both detachments pinned down the vehicle in Langley on June 19.

“Dangerous driving behaviours such as excessive speeding, stunting, and failing to stop for police put innocent road users at serious risk,” said Cpl. Carmen Kiener of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment. “The fact that a driver chooses not to stop does not mean they avoid accountability.”

The 20-year-old Langley man has received a total of $1,047 in fines for driving without due care and attention, failing to stop for police, speeding against a highway sign, failing to obey a stop sign and signalling on a turn, and crossing a double solid line.
