Motorist crashes, suffers injuries and becomes stranded for over 2 days north of Harrison Lake: Agassiz RCMP
HARRISON LAKE – Police are urging backcountry recreational users to be prepared for any and every scenario possible after a motorist crashed, suffered injuries from the incident and was stranded for at least two days north of Harrison Lake this past week.
RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says the Agassiz RCMP detachment received an SOS notification about a solo driver in a remote area north of Harrison Lake last week. The motorist had been involved in a single-vehicle collision, sustained some degree of injuries, and was stranded for more than two days and was running out of food and water.
Corporal Kiener says the individual was safely transported out of the area with the help of local search and rescue personnel. The man was assessed by medical professionals and found to be in good condition.
In a separate incident, police say an SOS notification was received for several occupants of a vehicle that had become stranded north of Harrison Lake after suffering a flat tire. Due to the remote location, Agassiz officers were not able to reach the vehicle and requested the assistance of the neighboring police of jurisdiction.
