Surrey Police appeal for help in ID’ing 2 youth suspects who bear sprayed another youth

SURREY – Police in Surrey need help identifying two youth suspects in an assault involving bear spray that happened outside a South Surrey business more than a month ago.

SPS Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton says the assault happened at about 4 p.m. on May 31, 2026, outside the Menchies Frozen Yogurt store at 15775 Croydon Drive in South Surrey. A male youth was sitting on a bench when he was approached by a male youth unknown to him who sprayed him with bear spray while another male recorded the incident on a cell phone.

The male youth suspect that deployed the bear mace is described as a Caucasian male in his teens, with shaggy brown hair, approximately 5’4″ tall, and wearing a light hoodie, red shirt, black shorts, black shoes, and a cross-body bag, and may have been pushed around in a blue shopping cart.

The male youth suspect that filmed the incident is described as a Middle Eastern male in his teens, with short black curly hair, approximately 5’6″ tall, with his right hand wrapped in medical tape, and wearing a black t-shirt with white designs, black pants with large white designs, white shoes, and a cross-body bag.

The victim, whom police have identified and spoken with, is described as a Middle Eastern teenaged youth, with black curly hair, approximately 5’6″ tall, and wearing a black hoodie, light blue jeans, and black clog-style shoes. SPS is providing the victim’s description in the hopes that any witnesses may remember the incident.
