Mission RCMP responds to another break-and-enter at Fennell Street property, two fires

May 3, 2026 | 8:46 AM

MISSION — Police in Mission have had to tackle teenage mischief and other property crimes in the past week, according to the detachment’s latest weekly round-up.

RCMP responded to 344 calls between April 20 and April 26.

During that period, around 6:30 a.m., officers responded to another break-and-enter at a vacant house on Fennell Street, but found no one inside.

An officer went to a nearby home he was familiar with based on a witness’s description of the suspects.

A woman answered the door and denied any involvement, but the officer spotted a man with an outstanding warrant at the residence.

The man was arrested, and when the officer returned to investigate, another woman with an outstanding warrant was also at the property.

“At that point, both of the women admitted to taking items from the vacant house, and turned over all of the stolen property,” said Mission RCMP. “The owner of the vacant property was advised to hire a security guard until any remaining items at the property are removed.”

The house was also broken into the week prior.

Police also responded to two ongoing criminal fires in one day that week.

Just after midnight on April 21, RCMP say someone had set fire to the stairs of a portable outside Mission Secondary School.

Mission firefighters were able to put it out before it damaged the actual portable, but anyone with information about this incident is urged to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and quote file number 26-4950.

Later that evening, a witness reported three teens who allegedly ran away from the area around the 1 km mark of the Lost Creek Forest Service Road after a pickup truck lit ablaze, which attending officers confirmed was a black 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 stolen from Abbotsford.

No suspects have been located.

Anyone in the lower portion of the Lost Creek FSR around 9:30 p.m. that Tuesday who saw anything related to the incident is urged to call police and quote file number 26-5002.
