Pedestrian killed after being struck Friday in Abbotsford; driver arrested

ABBOTSFORD – A pedestrian has been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in Abbotsford, and police have confirmed alcohol is a factor in the collision.

According to a statement from AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, police were on scene at around 3:34 p.m. for a serious collision involving a pedestrian at a crosswalk on Emerson Street and Simon Avenue in Abbotsford.

The SUV involved drove away at first but returned a short time later.

The female driver of the vehicle involved has been arrested. Alcohol is a factor in the crash, police said.

The pedestrian has been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Personnel from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service have been dispatched to assist with the investigation.

The intersection had been closed for several hours as police investigated.
