Mounties deal with high-centred stolen vehicle, speeding driver and messy mischief in Agassiz
AGASSIZ — RCMP in Agassiz dealt with an unusual stolen report last week. Mounties were called out to a report of an abandoned vehicle that was left running on the Chehalis Forest Service Road. The vehicle had become stuck on a tree stump. Police say tires were still spinning on the high-centred vehicle when they found it. Mounties say the vehicle was towed from the scene and returned to its owner in Mission. It had been reported as missing earlier in the day.
Meantime an officer clocked a driver at 92 km/h in a 50 km/h zone last week. The officer stopped the vehicle and handed the driver a ticket for excessive speeding and then impounded the vehicle.
Another investigation centred around an attempt to steal some copper wire from an electrical meter on Seabird Island Road. Those behind the activity caused several hundred dollars in damage to the meter and left without getting any copper wire. Police say the would-be thieves were lucky they didn’t suffer a severe shock.
Another investigation last week really stunk. Mounties received a call that some people had been tipping porta-potties on Pioneer Avenue. One youth was identified and taken to their parent to discuss the stunt. Police say everyone was thankful that the prank wasn’t as messy as it could have been.
