ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department is advising the public about the release of a sex offender into the community.

Police say 46-year-old Stephen Bradley Ewing is scheduled for release from William Head Institution on Monday, March 30, and will be living in the Abbotsford area.

The Port Alberni man was facing six years for convictions in sexual assault, sexual assault causing bodily harm – including an offence with a victim under 16 – and overcoming resistance by choking in 2021 and 2023.

Court documents show seven offences took place in 2018 and 2019 in Nanaimo, Lantzville and Parksville, in which Ewing would present himself as a “normal” customer to sex workers before forcing them into “highly aggressive and violent” acts.

One victim turned out to be 15 years old, although he was told she was 18 at the time of the incident, while another was injured and sent to hospital after she was penetrated anally without consent.

The five other women ranged from 23 to 40 at the time of their abuse.

A seventh woman, whom he met on an online dating site, then came forward with a similar experience as the initial sentencing was taking place.

Ewing is bound under several release conditions, namely staying away from places with unaccompanied children under 16 (e.g. daycares, schools, rec centres), keeping from jobs or volunteer work that can put him in trust of children under 16, staying away from sex trade workers, not consuming or purchasing drugs or alcohol, and not using any device with Internet access unless authorized by his parole supervisor.

Anyone who sees him violate any of these conditions is urged to contact local police immediately. Violations in Abbotsford can be reported through 604-859-5225 or 911 in an emergency.
