UPDATE: The Coquihalla Highway has reopened as of Thursday afternoon.

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — The Coquihalla Highway remains closed Thursday morning at Othello Road just outside Hope due to an unspecified vehicle incident.

DriveBC first reported of a vehicle incident on the Coquihalla Highway at Othello Road between Hope and Merritt at around 10 p.m. Wednesday (March 11), while hydro lines were reportedly down on the Trans Canada Highway from Hope to Boston Bar shortly after midnight Thursday (March 12).

Highway 1 is now open between Hope and Boston Bar in both directions.

While a winter storm warning is no longer in effect for the stretch of the Coquihalla, DriveBC has a travel advisory in place Thursday due to heavy snowfall and high winds.

In Hope, over 3,800 are without power as of Thursday morning.
