Surrey 13-year-old arrested for alleged theft from a luxury store, with replica firearm strapped to his leg: VPD

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Police Department says a 13-year-old male from Surrey has been arrested for allegedly stealing a $1,200 jacket from a high-end luxury store in downtown Vancouver with a replica firearm strapped to his leg.

According to a statement, Vancouver PD officers were dispatched at about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday evening after getting reports that security personnel had a suspect pinned to the ground with a gun strapped to his leg outside the store, located near Granville and Dunsmuir.

Police arrived on scene, arrested the teen and secured the replica firearm, VPD said.

The 13-year-old has been released into the custody of a parent. The investigation is ongoing, VPD said.
