BURNABY — Police are actively looking into reports of a man committing several indecent acts in a local park and along a trail in Burnaby over a five-day period.

On the evenings from January 15 to January 20, Mounties were called out to incidents ranging from public nudity to masturbation. Four of the reports took place in areas of Central Park, and one occurred along the Highland Park Trail near Beresford Street and Magnolia Terrace.

“Our investigators are piecing together information reported by the victims in each of these incidents, including suspect descriptions, to look for any similarities and develop a comprehensive picture of the person or persons responsible so we can share more information with the public,” said Media Relations Officer Cpl. Laura Hirst.

“In the meantime, we want to ensure people are informed and aware of these incidents so they can remain vigilant and take precautions.”

Investigators are gathering interviews and additional evidence, including CCTV footage, to find a link between the incidents and identify a suspect.

Residents may notice a greater police presence in the area.

Park and trail users are asked to stay aware of their surroundings, not to walk or run alone if possible, and to immediately report any suspicious behaviour to police.

Anyone with information about these incidents can contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
