Sasquatch Mountain Resort to close several days a week, citing ‘operational constraints’

HEMLOCK VALLEY — Sasquatch Mountain Resort says it will make schedule adjustments that will result in multiple day closures the rest of this month and into next month, citing “operational constraints.”

According to a social media post dated Friday, January 16, the resort north of Agassiz says it will be adjusting its schedule due to operational constraints. As a result, the resort will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for the rest of January, and Monday through Wednesday from February through to the end of March.

Sasquatch Mountain Resort says it will be open Monday, February 16 for the Family Day statutory holiday.

“We want to assure our season pass holders who purchased the RPO that the guaranteed minimum 60 ski days are still available for this season,” Sasquatch said. “This was not an easy decision, but it ensures that every guest visiting Sasquatch Mountain Resort enjoys the experience and level of service they deserve. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your understanding.”

Sasquatch Mountain Resort has experienced some unexpected hiccups the past month. Sasquatch Mountain Resort invited visitors to its tube park opening on Friday, January 2. However, some families soon found that six of the eight tubing runs were closed, resulting in only about 20 ticket sales and forcing the resort to turn away dozens of guests.

“Some of us had our own toboggans and went down a small incline. Moments later, we were shut down, saying it was unsafe. Meanwhile, the stairs to enter your tube rental facility were covered with uneven ice,” read one comment to the resort’s social media page.

“We drove the two hours to tube with our family only to be rudely told you were sold out.”

The resort said opening day saw higher-than-expected demand, and that the team is working to improve communication and pre-booking to ensure the situation won’t happen again.

Nearly a week prior, the resort also issued an official apology for a lighthearted post about its triple ski lift’s mechanical issues.

As of Sunday, January 4, the Sasquatch Chair, or green lift, had been under repair since the last season.
