Clothing retailer coming to Chilliwack

Retail franchise offering gently used clothes, shoes and accessories coming to Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — A retail franchise that purchases and sells gently used attire, shoes and accessories is slated to come to Chilliwack this spring.

According to its website, Plato’s Closet, with more than 500-plus locations across North America, is coming soon to unit 2 at 45676 Yale Road in Chilliwack.

The Once Upon a Child Chilliwack Facebook page shared a post this past Sunday, January 11 that said Plato’s Closet will open in spring 2026.

“If you’ve loved Once Upon a Child, this is the next natural chapter – offering gently loved fashion for teens and young adults at incredible prices,” Once Upon a Child Chilliwack wrote. “We’re so grateful for this community and for everyone who has supported us along the way.”

Once Upon a Child is similar to Plato’s Closet, only tailored to a much younger audience. It pays cash on the spot for clothing, toys, equipment and furniture. Once Upon a Child and Plato’s Closet belong to the same brand of companies under the Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Winmark corporate banner.

Plato’s Closet says it buys all types of clothing from customers to help reduce the amount of clothing usually headed to the landfill.

“We buy styles for all seasons, all day, every day, with no appointment necessary. Each Plato’s Closet location is individually owned and operated by local business owners, so you can feel good about shopping small,” Plato’s Closet said.

The closest Plato’s Closet location to Chilliwack in the Fraser Valley is in Abbotsford, located at 34150 South Fraser Way, unit 2B. Its hours are 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Chilliwack’s hours could mirror those of the Abbotsford Plato’s Closet.
