UPDATE: Power has been restored to most parts of Chilliwack.

Original story:

CHILLIWACK — The Fraser Valley can’t seem to get a break from the incessant windstorms that have produced endless power outages between Abbotsford and Hope this past week.

Amid a wind warning from Environment Canada predicting gusty winds of 50-80 km/h, nearly 3,500 customers in Chilliwack lost power at 7:42 p.m. Thursday night.

The affected areas include the Eagle Landing Parkway and Ashwell corridor, Chilliwack Mountain, areas near the Chilliwack Coliseum and Chilliwack General Hospital. Exactly 3,474 customers lost power.

The stated cause is a windstorm.

Crews are expected to arrive by 9:20 p.m. to resolve the outage.

There are two other outages affecting more than 100 customers each in the Chilliwack River Valley Thursday night. One is due to trees down across hydro wires, while the other cause is a windstorm.

There’s an outage affecting over 1,100 customers in the Harrison Mills, Chehalis and Hemlock Valley due to a windstorm.
