Chilliwack SPCA reopens after nearby flooding
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack branch of the BC SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) says it has reopened after being temporarily closed last week due to recent flooding near its Greendale facility.
According to a social media post, staff from the SPCA branch say they closed temporarily on Thursday morning, Dec. 11 due to nearby flooding, the same day that Highway 1 was closed between Sumas Way and No. 3 Road in Abbotsford. All of the animals in their care were transferred to other centres to ensure their safety.
Roughly five days after that safety precaution went into place, the facility has reopened its doors.
“We’re happy to share that the BC SPCA Chilliwack Community Animal Centre is back up and running! Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on us and ensure we were safe—your care and support mean so much,” BC SPCA Chilliwack said. “The decision to temporarily close our center was a difficult one, but the safety of our staff and volunteers was our top priority. During this time, all the animals in our care were safely transported to other BC SPCA locations, where they continued to receive the love and attention they deserve.”
