UPDATE: Crews on site in Chehalis, Harrison area after downed trees lead to road closure, telecom outages

UPDATE: BC Hydro has crews on site to repair an outage involving 324 hydro customers in Chehalis, Hemlock Valley and the Harrison Mills area, according to its latest estimate. It means residents have had no power for approximately 24 hours. They lost power at 2:57 p.m. on Monday.

On the Telus side of things, the telecom giant now says service technicians are on-site and repair efforts are underway. An estimated restoration window has been provided suggesting they hope to have telecom service restored by early evening tonight.

HARRISON/CHEHALIS/MORRIS VALLEY ROAD — Downed trees northwest of Agassiz have led to a road closure of Morris Valley Road, a BC Hydro outage, and a Telus outage impacting multiple telecom services.

Telus last reported on its website at 4 a.m. Tuesday morning that telecom services in Chehalis, Hemlock Valley and the surrounding area have been impacted. This includes Telus home phone, 9-1-1 landline, mobile (data, text and voice) cell services and 9-1-1 mobile.

Emergency Info BC reported at 4:52 p.m. Monday that 9-1-1 services in the Hemlock Valley, Harrison Mills and Chehalis were impacted likewise.

BC Hydro’s online dashboard as of 8:25 a.m. Tuesday morning indicates that 324 hydro customers lost power at 2:57 p.m. Monday afternoon. Crews are on site, but there’s no ETA for when power might be restored.

Morris Valley Road remains closed for approximately 14.2 km due to debris on the roadway and downed hydro lines. An assessment is in progress. DriveBC’s website was last updated at about 4 a.m. early Tuesday morning.
