Two outages south of Chilliwack leave over 2,100 without power Monday afternoon
CHILLIWACK — On a day full of outages throughout B.C., two power outages south of Chilliwack have left over 2,100 customers without power Monday afternoon amid blustery winds throughout the Fraser Valley.
The first one happened at 1:40 p.m. in which 1,028 saw their electricity go out in the Lindell Beach, Columbia Valley and an area along the U.S.-Canada border. The cause is under investigation. Crews are on their way but there’s no current ETA for when power will return.
A second one happened at 1:47 p.m. closer to Cultus Lake and has impacted 1,141 customers. It may be connected to an incident involving a tree that may have been smoking or on fire. The cause is under investigation. Crews are expected to arrive at 2:55 p.m. There’s no ETA on when power might be restored.
