Highway 1 opens eastbound between Highway 9 and Hope

AGASSIZ — Drivers heading from Agassiz to Hope can take Highway 1 eastbound again after crews cleared up debris from the roads between Thursday and Friday, December 12.

Emil Anderson Maintenance, a Fraser Valley contractor, reported at around 2:45 a.m. that the eastbound lane had been opened between Highway 9 and Hope, with traffic being reduced to one lane in each direction.

Eastbound traffic is being redirected to cross over and use one of the westbound lanes.

Images from the scene Thursday afternoon showed crews working to divert water flow on the road just east of Bridal Falls.

Highway 3 between Hope and Manning Park remains extensively damaged.

Highway 1 between Sumas Way and No. 3 Road, as well as between Whatcom Road and Sumas Way in Abbotsford, has been closed due to the flooding.
