7 arrested in recent safety enforcement initiative: Chilliwack RCMP

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack RCMP are keeping up their commitment to public safety through an enforcement initiative launched this past summer.

Project S.A.F.E. (Strategic Action for Focused Engagement) was launched in June to increase police visibility in downtown areas and surrounding neighbourhoods.

With cooling weather, police have now shifted to more targeted enforcement, disrupting the activities of known offenders and high-crime areas, including:

  • Alexander Avenue and Young Road
  • Yale Rd, Margaret Ave, Fletcher St, Williams St
  • Vedder Rd and Thomas Rd
  • South Young Rd

Most recent figures show police have conducted 12 vehicle stops, executed five existing warrants and seized several weapons, including a prohibited shotgun and knives.

Seven known offenders have also been arrested.

“This ongoing work reflects our commitment to proactive policing and keeping our community safe,” said Chilliwack RCMP.

The initiative is carried out in part with Griffin Security and bylaw personnel from the City of Chilliwack.
