Inmate hospitalized after assault at Agassiz max-security prison

AGASSIZ — A prisoner at Kent Institution was transported to hospital for medical treatment after being assaulted last Monday, Nov. 3.

According to a statement from Correctional Service Canada, the injured prisoner was examined by staff members and transported to an outside hospital to receive treatment.

CSC says the Agassiz RCMP and institution staff are presently investigating the incident.

The assailant has been identified, and the appropriate actions have been taken, though CSC never identifies what those penalties entail in their statements.

No staff members or other inmates were injured during this incident.
