CHILLIWACK — The University of the Fraser Valley didn’t have to look too far for a new provost and academic vice-president.

Dr. Tracy Ryder Glass, who has been serving as the university’s acting provost since July 2025, has years of experience in senior academic leadership from both Ontario and B.C.

She began her tenure at the university as Dean of the Faculty of Professional Studies in 2014 and was subsequently appointed Vice-Provost in 2021. Before that, she served as the coordinator of Law Clerk and Court programs and associate dean of the Humber College Business School for over 10 years.

“Her background as an educator, lawyer, scholar, athlete, and mentor is complemented by a record of collaborative, student-centred leadership, and a deep commitment to community engagement and changemaking at UFV,” wrote the university in a release.

Her record also holds several credentials, including a PhD in Theory and Policy Studies from the University of Toronto, a certificate in Higher Education Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Windsor.

A Provost and VP Academic advocates for teaching standards and coordinates to align operations with the university’s values and priorities.

Glass is set to begin her five-year term on January 1, 2026 officially.
