Discount mattress outlet opens in site of former ethnic grocery store

CHILLIWACK — A new retailer selling discounted mattresses has opened in downtown Chilliwack in the site of a former ethnic market and deli.
Mattress Monkey Liquidation Outlet opened to the public last Friday, October 31 with what’s called a soft opening, but its official grand opening is this coming Saturday, Nov. 7 at 46240 Yale Road in the former. The location was formerly occupied by Sultana Market, which was Chilliwack’s first halal meat and grocery store, as profiled by Fraser Valley Today in May 2023.
Mike, one of the staff who was on site over the weekend, told Fraser Valley Today that Mattress Monkey sells mattresses, box springs, duvet covers, bedding and more. The store’s interior has been redesigned and undergone electrical, engineering and painting refurbishment.
On its website, Mattress Monkey says it offers up to 70 per cent off retail on top brands, featuring pillow top, tight top, pocket coil, Euro top, memory foam and continuous coil mattresses. It says it sells all top Canadian brand mattresses for less and features factory overstock, canceled orders and discontinued models.
