B.C. police watchdog investigates after Surrey man seriously injured during arrest

SURREY — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is now looking into any wrongdoing after a Surrey man sustained injuries during his arrest.
At about 8:40 p.m. on October 6, an officer saw a man shouting aggressively at a group of women in the 10700 block of 135a Street and went in to arrest him.
While being taken to custody, the man sustained a serious but non-life-threatening injury. The IIO was notified shortly after the incident to investigate any serious harm that may have resulted from police action or inaction.
