It’s back to school for kids in Chilliwack, Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley
CHILLIWACK — Classrooms across British Columbia will be filled with students this week as public schools resume classes. Nearly 600 thousand B.C. students will head to school Tuesday (Sept. 3) morning to kick off the new school year, while thousands more will begin their year at private schools.
Public schools in the Chilliwack area, within School District 33, have their schedules listed on the district’s website. Start times for schools in Abbotsford are listed on the Abbotsford School District website.
Motorists are reminded that school zone speed limits are back in effect with the return of students. Drivers should be aware that students, often excited to return to the classroom, may unexpectedly dart across streets.
Unless otherwise stated on the sign, the posted speed limit in school zones is 30 km/h. The speed limits are in effect on school days between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
