Agassiz RCMP seeks identity of male suspect in a fraud and theft investigation

CHILLIWACK — RCMP members with the Agassiz detachment have released images of a male who is suspected of committing theft and fraud in Chilliwack and Langley.

According to a statement from Constable Berthier Kyobela, Agassiz RCMP personnel are looking to advance an investigation where a male suspect allegedly stole a victim’s wallet and made purchases using the victim’s financial cards in multiple jurisdictions, including Chilliwack and Langley.

On June 14, 2024, Agassiz RCMP responded to a report of theft and fraud. The investigation identified surveillance footage showing a male suspect enter the Save-On-Foods on Luckakuck Way at the Cottonwood Centre mall at approximately 9 a.m. on June 14. Police say the same suspect is observed on surveillance committing an alleged theft of a wallet from a victim’s shopping cart.

The suspect is believed to have then made purchases using the victim’s financial cards in multiple jurisdictions, including Chilliwack and Langley.

The suspect is described as the following:

  • Male;
  • Large build;
  • Dark / olive skin;
  • Round / partial beard;
  • Dark grey / black Nike cap;
  • Air Jordan Jumpman black hoodie;
  • Tight-fitting dark blue ripped jeans;
  • White sneakers;
