YOUR PERSPECTIVE: 2023 Year in Review
This year, our government has been focusing on the priorities that mean the most to British Columbians, like healthcare, housing, the cost of living, preparing for the effects of climate change, and so much more.
We know that reliable, accessible healthcare services are at the top of people’s minds, and we’ve taken direct action to help relieve some of the stresses on our healthcare system.
That’s why we’re strengthening our healthcare workforce and working to train, recruit and retain more healthcare professionals. We’ve hired thousands more healthcare workers, including 578 internationally trained nurses, and more than 1000 new paramedics and emergency service providers across the province through these efforts.
By giving pharmacists the power to prescribe for minor ailments and contraception, we’re easing demand on doctors and walk-in clinics. Hundreds of thousands of people are already using this convenient service.
