CHILLIWACK — GW Graham built an early lead in the first half of an Eastern Conference battle of the Ursidae at home Friday and never looked back Friday (Oct. 13) in a 35-9 win over visiting Mt. Boucherie of West Kelowna.

The 2-1 Grizzlies set the tone quickly with a 28-0 lead by halftime, with TD receptions by wide receiver Carter Dallas (27 yards), and fellow wide receiver Christian Beck (10 yards), both thrown by QB Aiden Hewitt (17-for-21, 182 yards, 2 TDs).

The ground game was solid for the Grizzlies as well, with scores on the ground by running back Grady Andrea (20 yards) and running back Noah Johnson (5 yards).

Special teams was a big part of the game, as the Grizzlies attempted an onside kickoff and gunner Noah Sandau recovered it to help the offence put points on the board.

The Grizzlies defence had four takeaways including three interceptions courtesy of safety Carter Dallas, linebacker Riley Ashley, and linebacker Gavin Parks, as well as a fumble recovery by defensive end Josh Seo. Linebacker Billy Hunter had 7 tackles, two of which were for a loss, and another two were sacks. The Grizzlies only surrendered a late TD to the Bears on the last play of the game.

Offensive coordinator Matt Paisley says he was pleased with the balanced attack that spread the ball around to nine Receivers and four different running backs.

The Grizzlies head to Kelowna next week to play the undefeated Rutland Voodoo at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21.
