Mission RCMP uncover the real reason a male crashed his car on Lougheed Highway
LAKE ERROCK — Mission RCMP say they responded to a single-vehicle collision over the Thanksgiving long weekend, only to learn that a man’s explanation for why he crashed didn’t add up.
According to a Facebook post from the Mission RCMP, Mounties attended a single-vehicle collision on Sunday evening, October 8 in the 43200 block of Lougheed Highway in Lake Errock. The small unincorporated community east of Mission is within their detachment coverage area.
Police say a 56-year-old male was identified as the driver, who fortunately only had minor injuries. The driver told police that he swerved to avoid a squirrel.
However, officers became suspicious when they located open liquor inside the vehicle. The driver registered a fail reading on a roadside screening device, and received a 90-day driving prohibition.
