Clumsy bear leaves oily mess outside Clearwater restaurant: RCMP

CLEARWATER, B.C. — A bear who was both hungry and clumsy caused a big mess for a Clearwater restaurant owner.

Clearwater RCMP say a member was called to a mischief complaint at a local restaurant on Sept. 25. The owner noted someone had dumped oil all around the property.

The investigating officer found a large oil bin near the restaurant where the employees disposed of cooking oil. The lid had previously been ripped off by a bear.

After finding a bear’s footprint in the oil spilled around the building, the officer concluded a bear had fallen into the open vat, become soaked in cooking oil and smeared it all around the area.
