IHIT deployed to Mission after 45-year-old man was shot, killed in gang-related incident

MISSION — Homicide investigators have been deployed to Mission after a 45-year-old man was shot Monday afternoon and later died early Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), Mounties in Mission were called to the 32700 block of Laminman Avenue Monday, August 28 at 5:01 p.m. for the report of shots fired. RCMP members attended and located a 45-year-old victim suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.

IHIT says the victim was transported to a hospital while first responders attempted to save the victim’s life. Shortly after the shooting, a vehicle was torched in the area of Richards Avenue and Doyle Street.

IHIT says the victim of Monday’s shooting died at approximately 2 a.m. early Tuesday.

Homicide investigators from IHIT have taken control of the investigation and are working in partnership with Mission RCMP, BC Coroners Service, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU-BC).

At this time, police believe this incident is connected to the ongoing gang conflict in British Columbia.

“IHIT will continue to work with CFSEU-BC to share information as we work to determine a motive,” Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said in a news release. “We’re asking anyone with information about this incident to please contact IHIT immediately.”
