ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford’s Gallery 7 Theatre is calling all aspiring actors to audition for its Christmas production, “Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley.” The open auditions for the play, written by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon, will be held on September 13, 2023, at the theatre’s rehearsal hall in Abbotsford.

Actors from diverse backgrounds and experience levels aged 16 and above are invited to take part in the auditions. “Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley,” a heartwarming tale featuring characters from Jane Austen’s timeless universe, is aimed at audiences of all ages. Ken Hildebrandt, the Executive/Artistic Director of Gallery 7 Theatre, expressed his excitement: “This heart-warming production, based on some of Jane Austen’s most recognizable characters, promises to be a memorable holiday treat for people of all ages.”

The play, a sequel to “Pride and Prejudice,” shines the spotlight on Mary Bennet during a festive family gathering at Pemberley. The unexpected arrival of a guest sparks a journey of hope for intellectual companionship, autonomy, and the prospect of love. Infused with romance, wit, and clever dialogue, the production is expected to delight theatre goers.

The accomplished Sarah Green, a graduate of the UFV Theatre program with a rich history in various Gallery 7 Theatre productions, will direct the play. Aspiring performers are encouraged to visit the theatre’s website, www.gallery7theatre.com, or call 604-504-5940 for registration and further details. Those interested in behind-the-scenes roles are also welcome to reach out to the theatre.
