AbbyPD impound motorcycle, fine driver
ABBOTSFORD — With the arrival of another warm summer weekend, Abbotsford Police are warning motorists to respect the rules of the road or be prepared to deal with the consequences.
Last weekend AbbyPD officers pulled a motorcyclist and his bike off the road after the bike was clocked at more than double the posted speed limit.
According to AbbyPD, the bike was impounded immediately after it was captured doing 115 km/h along Townline Road. The posted speed limit in the area is 50 km/h. Police say the driver was issued violation tickets for excessive speed and driving without a license.
According to ICBC, nearly 40 per cent of all crashes in the Fraser Valley occur on weekend days and speeding is the top contributing factor in all fatal crashes in B.C.
