CHILLIWACK — More than 50 mm of rain could fall over the Fraser Valley through the B.C. Family Day long weekend. Environment Canada has issued a heavy rainfall warning for the region.
The eastern part of the region is expected to be hardest hit.
According to the national weather agency, a frontal system has stalled over the area and is expected to remain in place for some time.
It warns heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, making for dangerous driving conditions. Motorists should avoid driving through large pools of water. In addition, it warns the region could be subject to localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
