ABBOTSFORD – Police in Abbotsford say a 36-year-old man has been charged for his alleged role in a drug trafficking investigation that saw authorities seize more than 12 kgs of illicit drugs, over $60K in currency, body armour, a firearm and ammunition.

AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker says patrol officers observed a man associated to local drug trafficking driving a vehicle in April 2025 despite having a driving prohibition. Abbotsford PD officers followed the vehicle and subsequently arrested the driver. During the arrest, officers located illegal drugs and a handgun in his possession.

As a result of this arrest, the Abbotsford Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Unit initiated Project Interruption, an investigation targeting 36-year-old Tyler Missen and his alleged involvement in drug trafficking within Abbotsford.

During the course of these two investigations, officers executed several search warrants, including one at a residence in the 31100 block of Deertrail Drive. These enforcement actions resulted in the seizure of more than 12 kilograms of illicit drugs, including carfentanil, cocaine, and crystal methamphetamine. Investigators also confiscated more than $60,000 in Canadian currency, body armour, a firearm, and several loaded magazines.

“The quantity of drugs seized, particularly carfentanil—a highly potent synthetic opioid—had the potential to cause significant harm within the community,” Sgt. Walker said.

“The seizure of these drugs, firearms, and proceeds of crime represents a substantial disruption to local drug trafficking activities and reinforces AbbyPD’s commitment to targeting individuals who profit from the sale of dangerous illicit substances,” Sgt. Walker said.

On June 29, 2026, Tyler Missen was charged with six counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, in addition to possession of a firearm contrary to an order, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm, possession of a loaded/unloaded w/ammo prohibited/restricted firearm and driving While Disqualified.

“Illegal drugs and firearms continue to pose significant risks to public safety, contributing to addiction, violence, and community harm,” Sgt. Walker said. “The Abbotsford Police Department remains committed to disrupting drug trafficking networks, removing illegal firearms from our streets, and enhancing public safety through proactive enforcement and intelligence-led investigations.”

The AbbyPD file numbers for these two investigations are 2025-13896 and 2025-18536.
