ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police announced Wednesday morning (Oct. 5) that a male youth has been arrested in connection with a horrific stabbing that happened back in August in Abbotsford.

Police say the underage male was arrested by the Abbotsford Police Department Major Crime Unit, with assistance from the Surrey RCMP, last week Wednesday, September 28. Due to the youth being a young offender, police say no further details can be released about his identity, according to Sgt. Paul Walker, media relations officer for Abbotsford Police.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has now approved charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and robbery against the underage male. It is unknown whether the underage male is still in custody or has been released.

The stabbing incident occurred on August 11, at 2:38 a.m., when Abbotsford Police Department officers located a 37-year-old female in medical distress in the intersection of Gladwin Road and South Fraser Way. Officers determined the female was suffering from stabbing injuries. Emergency medical care was rendered, resulting in her being transported to hospital with serious injuries.
