BURNABY — Homicide investigators in B.C. have been called to Burnaby after a shooting Wednesday evening left one man dead.

According to a statement from Burnaby RCMP spokesperson Corporal Mike Kalanj, Mounties in Burnaby were dispatched for a report of shots fired just before 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 to an area near Still Creek Avenue and Still Creek Drive in North Burnaby. When police arrived, they found a male victim already deceased.

Approximately 15 minutes later, Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a vehicle fire near Nursery Street and Lakefield Drive, in South Burnaby. Investigators are working to determine any connection to the shooting.

Police have secured both scenes and will remain in these areas as the investigation continues.

Cpl. Kalanj noted that while it is very early in the investigation, police suspect this may be a targeted event, and police believe there are no further risks to public safety from this incident.

IHIT has taken conduct of the investigation. Further details will be handled by the IHIT media relations team.

Homicide investigators are looking for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video or CCTV in either area, Still Creek Avenue and Still Creek Drive, as well as Nursery Street and Lakefield Drive, between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., on September 10, 2025.
