IIO to probe police actions after Mission motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in crash
MISSION — B.C.’s civilian police watchdog is investigating a motor vehicle incident that left a Mission motorcyclist with serious injuries last Sunday, August 24.
According to a statement, the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. says that police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Sandpiper Place and Hurd Street. The officer spoke to the driver of the vehicle and completed the traffic stop.
A short time later, the driver of the vehicle left the location and was involved in a collision with a motorcycle.
It should be noted that the IIO statement did not mention an apparent U-turn by the driver of a Ford Focus vehicle. Mission RCMP alluded to this apparent U-turn in a social media post over the weekend, but the IIO has not.
