Agassiz RCMP going purple for campaign addressing domestic violence
AGASSIZ — Throughout the month of October, the Agassiz RCMP will be participating in the Purple Light Nights campaign—an initiative creating awareness surrounding domestic violence.
Sgt. Mike Sargent of the Agassiz RCMP said the campaign is spearheaded through the detachment’s victim services group.
“They’ve gone above and beyond to ensure that we have purple lights available for the detachment,” said Sgt. Sargent. “They’ve worked with the municipality to get the banner and also the silhouettes that represent victims of domestic violence that’ll be posted up in front of the building.”
Citizens are encouraged to purchase purple light bulbs and put them up in their homes and businesses as a show of solidarity towards victims of domestic violence.
